About Once Was Creative Studio

At Once Was Creative Studio, our mission is simple: to bring joy and light into people's lives, while also spreading awareness about the importance of sustainable and ethical fashion practices. We believe that fashion should reflect our values—caring for the planet, embracing creativity, and celebrating imperfection.

The Birth of Once Was Creative Studio

The idea for Once Was Creative Studio was born during the unpredictable and challenging year of 2020. In the midst of a global pandemic, when the world was forced to pause and reimagine how we live, Sabrina Sosa realized the opportunity to create something meaningful. What started as an idea to do things differently has evolved into a brand dedicated to reshaping the way we think about clothing and its impact on the world.

Changing the Narrative on “Damaged Goods”

In a society that often views used clothing as "damaged" or "outdated," we aim to shift that mindset. What many people consider "trash"—whether it's deadstock fabric or pre-loved garments—has untapped potential. Once Was Creative Studio is here to show that these materials can be reused, repurposed, and reimagined into something beautiful and new.

Our designs focus on creating pieces that are both timeless and sustainable. Every garment has a second chance, and we’re here to prove that the value of something doesn’t lie in its appearance, but in the care and thoughtfulness that go into its creation.

Slow Fashion, Worth the Wait

Creating something special takes time, and we believe in the beauty of slow fashion. It may take a little longer to get our garments just right, but we promise that it’s worth the wait. We believe that the process of designing, producing, and crafting garments with intention leads to better quality, more thoughtful fashion, and a deeper connection to the things we wear. Every piece we make is a labor of love, and we’re committed to ensuring that it aligns with our values of sustainability and respect for the planet.

Reducing Waste, One Garment at a Time

We acknowledge the environmental impact of the fashion industry, and we do our best to minimize that impact every step of the way. By salvaging old garments, using sustainable materials, and focusing on local production, we actively reduce textile waste. We are committed to repurposing all fabric scraps and materials, ensuring that nothing goes to waste. Whether it’s through upcycling or recycling, we aim to close the loop and create garments that are as environmentally responsible as they are beautiful.

Ethically Sourced, Thoughtfully Made

We are committed to sourcing only from ethical companies and small local businesses that share our values of sustainability, fair labor practices, and environmental responsibility. We carefully vet every partner and supplier to ensure that they meet our high standards for ethical production. Whether it’s the fabrics we use or the materials that go into each design, we prioritize working with businesses that treat their workers fairly, minimize their environmental impact, and are transparent in their practices.

By partnering with small, independent businesses and ethical companies, we not only support local economies but also strengthen our supply chain with values we can trust. We believe that fashion can—and should—be a force for good, which is why we choose to collaborate with like-minded partners who are just as dedicated to changing the industry for the better.

Transparency & Connection

We believe in transparency, and we’re always happy to share more about our process, materials, and values. Whether you have a question about a specific product, our sustainability efforts, or just want to learn more about our journey, we’re here for it. Once Was Creative Studio is more than just a brand—it’s a conversation, and we love to engage with our community. Please never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or feedback.
